The people who run the shop.
They keep the school running. When you write in, call the shop or book a tour, these are the people you’ll hear back from.
Our local instructors

And a guest bench for specialists.
Our guest teachers come through the shop to teach a craft they’ve spent years on. So the calendar goes deep: joinery, marquetry, bent lamination and curved stairs, right beside a one-day Owl Nesting Box.

Where the crew started
It started with a few good makers.
In 2017, Austin Waldo saw that Austin wanted more ways to learn woodworking. He’d grown up around his grandfather’s woodshop in Kansas. So he set out to find the best furniture makers, investors and industry partners to plan, open and run a school.
A core group of enthusiastic furniture makers came together, and the Austin School of Furniture was born.
The school is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Its board manages the donations that fund scholarships, living wages for teachers and staff, and the effort to buy a permanent home. Support the school →
